"Hotel Andra (Swedish for "change"), situated at the corner of Fourth Avenue and Virginia Street, in downtown Seattle, is truly a superlative "boutique" style hotel resplendent with Scandinavian decor. The first step into the lobby transports one from the frenetic pace of downtown Seattle, to a haven of cool comfort and warm camaraderie. Temptingly delicious aromas of cooking from their signature restaurant, Lola, assault your senses and excite even the most discriminating palate where, in blissful confusion, your legs unconsciously ambulate right, towards Lola, as your mind is thinking, go straight ahead to the reservation desk. (Since the esteemed Hot Stove Society conducts cooking classes in the spotless stainless steel kitchen, I do believe that the many of the graduates further hone their culinary skills at Lola). And if undecided and you need to gather your wits, the welcoming stone fireplace, on the left, with the perfectly stacked logs, knotted rugs and thematic armchairs, further beckons you to take the load off your feet.
The trendily dressed greeting/concierge staff is alert, friendly and courteous (as expected). However, their focused attention to details is quite complimentary, making one feel absolutely special and simultaneously overcoming any pre conceived trepidation one might possess.
As you transition to your room, one cannot help but notice the deafening silence accompanying the absence of the grating/jarring ice machines! Instead, Hotel Andra has placed mini packets of ice, in strategically positioned freezers, which you can fluidly pick up and go ! The Scandinavian tone, texture and tenor exude throughout the Andra. The wood motif and ecru/ sepia toned paint mutely contrasts, yet is in perfect consonance with the defined cubic squared lines of the comfortably sized rooms ,and at night, the halo of the kaleidoscopic city lights will softly intrude into your bedroom - unless you close your drapes! The rooms are tastefully furnished , and include wet bars, fully stocked liquor cabinets and delicious snacks- at additional cost.
Crisp, clean linen, bedding and towels, the hallmark of personal hospitality, are uncompromisingly maintained whilst the cleaning staff's demeanor perpetuate pleasantness.
The "front burning" Hot Stove Society's cooking classes conducted at Hotel Andra seems to be a central masterpiece and has really mushroomed. The interactive, hands-on classes enhance culinary skills and creatively challenge the gustatory cortex of both amateur and professional Culinarians.
Many boutiques and flagship stores, high end and otherwise, dot the landscape around Hotel Andra and one can easily walk to the Market at Pike Street or access the monorail to the City Center and the Space Needle. Hotel Andra (change) constantly explores opportunities to reengineer itself because of the dynamism of the heterogenous neighborhood and their eclectic clientele.
Hotel Andra is highly recommended as your hotel of choice."
